Frequently Asked Questions

We've compiled a list of answers to common questions.

A domain name is what people type into a browser to find a website – similar to how you use a street address to find a building. Every website, server, or digital device that is connected to the Internet has an assigned IP address that you can use to see or visit it. This IP address is a long string of numbers and letters that would be very difficult for people to memorize, so a domain name is simply a human-friendly version of that IP address.

When you type a domain name – like www.arbanhost.com or www.google.com – into your browser, the domain name system, or DNS, takes this domain and translates it into its IP address, allowing the associated website to be found.

In this sense, Arban Host can help you find a domain name that best suits your business so you can easily promote your website.

Having your own domain name can help you appear more legitimate to people who search for you or your business online. With a domain name, you can:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Pellentesque hendrerit nisi lectus, nec rhoncus libero tincidunt ac. Duis in ante est. Phasellus tincidunt ante ac lobortis lacinia. Nunc mattis maximus semper. Etiam euismod nisl ut dolor suscipit, et iaculis neque rutrum. Nullam dui elit, aliquam vitae velit eget, varius suscipit sem. In hac habitasse platea dictumst.

To check if a domain name is available, just type it in Arban Host search bar and we’ll tell you immediately if someone else already owns it.

  1. If it’s taken, you can search for your desired domain name using our WHOIS Lookup.
  2. Or try our Domain Broker service, where we can negotiate acquiring the domain from its current owner.

We also offer a Domain Backorder service, where you purchase a backorder credit to give you a chance to get the domain you want when it goes to auction.

Here are the steps to buy domains:

  1. Decide on a domain name extension. The extension is the part at the end of the domain name — .net.biz.org or .com, for example.
  2. Think about what business name or specialty you’d like on the other side of the dot. Use our business name generator to find the right one.
  3. Type the domain you want into the box at the top of this page. We’ll tell you if that particular domain is available and also show you others you may like better.
  4. Pick a domain, add it to your cart, and check out. You are now the proud owner of your very own domain. As long as it’s registered to you, no one else may use it.

Web hosting is a service provided by companies (e.g., the web host) that sell or lease space on a server where you store files that enable your website accessibility on the internet. These companies typically require you to own a domain, or can help you purchase a domain.

Once you purchase a web hosting plan, we store your site on our servers and assign it a unique DNS. The DNS is the address that allows people around the world to access your website. This unique address is required in order for people to view your site.

By purchasing a (shared hosting) website hosting package as shown on this page, you’re buying space on our servers. It’s similar to the space on the hard drive of a computer, and it being on our servers makes your website files accessible from anywhere.

Shared hosting is a popular hosting option where a provider hosts multiple websites on one physical web server. And because you’re sharing resources — like neighbors in an apartment building — you spend less but have fewer options and less control. Shared hosting is typically for websites which require low resources (e.g., blogs, informational sites or smaller online stores). If your site is more resource intensive, or you need more control of your server, options like Web Hosting PlusVPS, or dedicated servers may be best for your hosting needs.

If shared hosting is right for you, you’ll need to decide which type of shared hosting you prefer; we offer three shared hosting solutions: Linux plans using cPanel, Windows plans using Plesk and WordPress Hosting. Shared hosting allows you to share hosting space and costs with others, while benefitting from the speed and space you need for your small business website.

Arban Host hosting can be used for self-installation of popular CMS, including WordPress, Joomla, Magento and Drupal.

cPanel is a web hosting control panel that provides a web hosting customer/owner a user interface intended to help them easily manage their website and shared server. It allows users to create websites using a variety of content management systems (CMS) including WordPress, Drupal, Magento and Joomla. With cPanel hosting, you can benefit from accessing all the hosting features and settings you need with this industry-standard control panel, including:
